911

A Mississauga teen has been warned by police after she called 911 saying her parents “forced her” to go on vacation with them, east of Toronto.

Northumberland OPP say last Tuesday, officers went to a rental cottage east of Peterborough, following a 911 call by a 15-year-old girl.

OPP Constable Stephen Bates tells The Toronto Star – “This appeared to be a case of a teenager being a teenager.”

Police say the teen was fine, and perceived this as a real emergency.

“Calls such as this tie up police resources which could impact the safety of others in the community who are in real need of assistance,” Bates said.

The teen was given a warning, with officers stressing – this wasn’t a REAL emergency…
