After year of resistance author Judy Blume has finally agreed to have one her most influential books become a movie.  ‘Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret’ was published almost 50 years ago and by today’s standards is pretty tame but over the years there have been efforts to have the book banned from libraries. It is among Time’s list of the top 100 fiction books written in English since 1923.  Fremon Craig has been named director of the new project and spoke to Deadline about the significance of Judy Blume’s book.
