When the news came this past September it struck cold and hard.  It left an odd and angry feeling: the feeling that somehow…we had failed.  We had let a mom down.  Her son, a young man from Detroit, had come to our country to pursue his dream.  To our country…a country we proudly believe is friendly; civil; safe.  But that September night in Calgary her son fell victim to the most senseless kind of tragedy…the kind we don’t like to think happens here. Today at the Grey Cup that young man’s mom will display extraordinaire strength and courage as she will be in attendance to cheer on his team.  CBC Sports has the story.
