The most festive spot in the city, leading up to Christmas, is the Christmas Market in the Distillery District, and our friends behind the Market have given us this week’s highlights to be on the lookout for, including wonderful live performances, children’s story book reading, and Santa taking pics with your dog(s)! Have a look at the list of highlights, inside! Merry Christmas! 

Here goes!

  • Tuesday (Dec 8) — Don’t forget that every Tuesday pet owners can bring their furry friends to take a photo with Santa! Photos at Santa’s House from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday (Dec 9) — Transport yourself to Europe with Archangelis, a vocal duo comprised of two graduates of St. Michael’s Choir School, who sing holiday music in English, Italian and French! Michael Masangkay (vocals) and Ken de los Santos (vocals/piano) will perform at 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
  • Thursday (Dec 10) — The O’Pears, a female folk trio, are bringing their classic and contemporary style to the Market ahead of the release of their first full-length album. Catch their signature jaw-dropping harmonies at 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
  • Friday (Dec 11) — It’s Friday Night Jazz with Micah Barnes. One of Canada’s most beloved jazz artists, Barnes will perform songs from his critically acclaimed album, “New York Stories”. See him perform at 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Saturday (Dec 12)

– Bring the kids for Children’s Storytelling and join one of the Market’s onsite Characters as they lead kids through a Brothers Grimm Fairytale! On the main stage at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – the afternoon session will include an ASL Story along with an ASL/English Interpreter.

– Help celebrate the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir’s twentieth year! The Choir draws on the Welsh tradition of singing music originating from the valleys and mountains of Wales. Catch one of their performances at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

– With over four decades of experience, the Lechowia Polish Song & Dance Company will share their excellence in dance and the richness of Polish folk culture when they take to the stage at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

– Close out the evening with a performance from the Seraphim Men’s and Cherubim Women’s Choirs. Hailing from the prestigious St. Michael’s Choir School, Seraphim and Cherubim will perform at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

  • Sunday (Dec 13)

– Have an appreciation for French music and culture? Make sure to take in a performance by La Chorale Francophone de la region de York. The French choir will perform songs of the season at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

– The Burt’s Bees Wreath Making Session is back for a second week with Sarah Min, a floral designer based in Toronto. Min will show participants how to tackle this DIY project in three easy steps on Sunday at 4 p.m.

– Finish off the week with the Oregano Percussion, a Toronto-based duo of Alejandro Céspedes and Michelle Colton, who will have you dancing in the snow with their mix of different styles from Latin to Caribbean music! Oregano Percussion will perform at 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
