4 FAST MOBILE BANKING TIPS TO STAY SAFE

1 – Install the latest version of your banking app – Stay on top of your device’s updates and keep your mobile banking apps up-to-date.

Security requirements and mobile banking services are constantly evolving, so updates are necessary to address any tweaks.

2 – Watch out for phishing scams – When you see a link via text message that looks suspicious, don’t click on it.

In fact, major banks such as Scotiabank will never send you a text message or e-mail requesting that you change or validate your banking credentials.

3 – Take advantage of your phone’s security features – In addition to locking your device with a passcode, set up your device’s “Find Me” feature in advance so you can lock it remotely and post a message in the event of a loss. If missing, report your lost device to your carrier, and reset your banking passwords immediately.

4 – Use new, safer login tech – On your iPhone, login with Touch ID; If you’re the only person using your device, Touch ID enables safe and easy access to mobile banking transactions wherever you are.  Other innovative features like Scotiabank’s Quick Balance will let you access some of your banking info – such as your account balances – quickly and without entering a password.
