Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26th annually, people in countries around the world are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness.

Quick facts:

– More than 50 million people worldwide suffer from epilepsy

– There are 300,000 Canadians who have epilepsy

– Epilepsy is not contagious and not a disease

– For more than half of people with epilepsy, medication can be used to treat their seizures

– Famous people with epilepsy include: Charles Dickens, Thomas Edison, Richard Burton and Canadian singer Neil Young
